CHILD AT HEART

I have grown up to be fully-fledged in age,

I am tall, mature, and understand all the things as I am wise,

I have confronted all the ups and downs of life and smiled,

Now I have developed the patience to face every situation with pride.

Though I may be grown up and have kids myself,

Yet a small kid in me keeps peeping and coming out,

It wants to play, laugh, and make mischiefs,

It needs mother’s lap to sleep and to be pampered with love.

It loves the vivid and bright colours of the toffees,

It enjoys every taste, whether it is strawberries or coffee,

It keeps licking the candies, till the tongue becomes colourful,

Then it smiles staring at the hue, blissfully.

It eats candies with greed and feels solace,

It likes to slide, swing, and climb trees,

It wants to speak innocently and imprudently,

Yet be overlooked and chuckled as a coddled baby.

When I act like a baby, it rejuvenates my entire mood,

After playing with kids by going back to their age,

I happily come back to myself to tolerate the burdens again,

It feels bright, contented, and radiant again.
